A collection of 9 melodies written in different styles including a march, tango, rock and duets.

Program Notes for the Performer

March of the Socks
This melody includes the note E natural (for trombone) and F# for valved instruments. Its scale-like construction is to help the player ascend and descend smoothly.

Funk Rock
Play with a jazzy feel. Beware the octave jump and the flats and sharps.

My Little Tango
Get used to the quaver crotchet rhythm. Listen to the piano part - it has the same rhythm pattern.

The Clock
The rhythm of a clock, tick tock, tick tock. Also, there are chromatic notes. These are very small sound gaps between the notes.

My First Duet
This is to help the students move together with the same musical pattern but, different notes.

Time Off to Play
The lower part is mainly minims with identical patterns at the end of the phrase. Enabling differing standards of player, to play together.

Rain Drop Duet
The students are playing independent parts. With some identical patterns. The lower part is a bass pattern for lower instruments.

Blue Tango
The tango rhythm is consistent throughout the bass part. With the melody in the upper part.

Study in 3rds
Defiantly an advanced duet for top players. Moving together and then the middle section has independent parts.
