The title is a tribute to a hospitable Frenchman who lives in Lille and inspiration for the work derived from the joyful singing in the style of a spiritual of a West Indian choir on the BBC's Songs of Praise. The composer believes that the warmth and richness of the trombone quartet sound is particularly apposite for this composition.
This quartet is particularly suitable for a trombone quartet with the 1st player of intermediate or approaching advanced standard as the range goes up to C5. There is an "Ad Lib." jazz solo section but an optional written solo is given.
