Jon Welch Bone Zone: Festival

This is the premiere CD of the Jon Welch Bone Zone, a new kind of trombone quartet. What would happen if you took the trombone section out of a jazz big band and let them play an entire concert having them create their own melody, harmony, improvisations and rhythm on their own? What if you provided them with an assortment of original pieces in a variety of styles including jazz, latin, funk, bossa nova, gospel and even quasi-classical lullaby? What if you sprinkled in a few pop and jazz standards to please a general audience? What if you packaged all this on one ground-breaking CD which shakes up the trombone quartet concept on a nuclear scale (it's no longer a purely classical affair!)?
