The piece was written as a performance piece for the modern, advanced
trombonist. It was written for a recital of a friend of mine, the superb
trombonist, Stephen Rhodes. Being a brass player myself, I have seen it as an
opportunity to show the voice the trombone can have as a versatile instrument
reflecting a wide range of emotions through the music it produced.
