Williams: Elegy
Elegy was composed at the request of A. G. McGrannahan III, Professor of Music and Director of Bands at the University of Nevada, Reno, and premiered on his D.M.A. recital at the University of North Texas by Dr. McGrannahan with Dr. Williams on the piano. The work is freely tonal, and despite it being completely notated, the composer tries to re-create the effects of spontaneity and improvisation for both performers.
