Beales: Ivan the Musical Mouse
Ivan the Musical Mouse is a children?s cantata commissioned by the Lambeth Music Service for the Lambeth Schools? Music Festival 2005. It was performed in the Nettlefold Hall and twice in the Queen Elizabeth Hall at the South Bank Centre, London in March 2005 with 700 Key Stage 1 children (5 - 7 years old) participating in the premiere and subsequent concerts. Suitable for children at KS 1 and 2, Ivan tells the story of a young Russian mouse who builds himself a xylophone and sets out to audition for the Russian Symphony Orchestra. The tale is unfolded by a narrator, and interspersed with unison and simple 2-part songs which illustrate the story.
The pack includes a rehearsal CD containing the complete narration (read by children?s television presenter Chris Jarvis) and vocal and instrumental versions of all the songs. The CD also contains a full set of sing-a-long accompaniments for each song.
