The SINFONIA AND CHORUS OF SPIRITS comes from "Orfeo" by Claudio Monteverdi. "Orfeo" was first produced in 1607 in Mantua, Italy and is widely regarded as the first opera. In it Monteverdi indicated that 5 trombones were to be used.
