Peter Thorne
Peter Thorne was born in Mansfield in 1955 and studied music at Oxford university, where he laid down the foundations of his composing technique and also spent a lot of time playing jazz on the piano. He also did a Masters degree at UEA where he absorbed some more modern influences. Since leaving university he has worked as a teacher and pianist in various combinations but since 1993 he have settled down to teaching as a career. He has continued to compose music primarily for his students, including many instrumental and choral pieces. he enjoys combining jazz and classical styles, sometimes in sharp juxtaposition and try to include a few unexpected twists into each composition. His primary aim is to give pleasure to performers and listeners.
