Sackman: Meld

Concerto for piano, large brass ensemble and percussion. HIRE ONLY This is a 16 minute concerto in three non-stop movements. The musical theatricality of the piece resides in the way that the solo piano is 'shadowed' by the Marimba, Vibraphone, Harp and Timpani which, in turn, act as a 'gateway' through to the brass chorus. The piece has been recorded by Philip Mead (the dedicatee) together with the Royal Northern College of Music Brass Ensemble, conducted by James Gourlay, for release on the NMC label during 2004. There is a synthesised CD available.
