Edward Solomon

Edward Solomon started learning the trombone in 1981 while attending the John Lyon School, Harrow . He studied with Maisie Ringham, switching from tenor to bass trombone in 1985 before leaving to read Modern Languages at the University of Westminster . While taking a degree course at the University, he studied with Ronald Bryans at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. During his university years, he studied abroad at the Université Michel de Montaigne Bordeaux III and the University of Innsbruck , also studying trombone at the local music colleges.

He joined the BBC Elstree Concert Band shortly after its inception and became a member of the British Trombone Society in 1989. Since then, he has played bass trombone with various North London orchestras and ensembles, including the Finchley Chamber Orchestra, North London Symphony Orchestra, Harrow Symphony Orchestra, Ealing Symphony Orchestra, Bloomsbury Chamber Orchestra, The Rehearsal Orchestra, North West London Symphony Orchestra and Enfield Brass Consort. Recently, he started a trombone octet, in which he plays bass and contrabass trombones, and also arranges music for orchestra, wind band and brass ensemble, trombone ensemble and quartet.
